The Ware County Gators Basketball Teams traveled to Warner Robins on Wednesday to compete in the Region 1-AAAA Basketball Tournament Semifinals, with both squads battling for seeding in postseason play.
Lady Gators Fall in Heartbreaker
The Lady Gators fought until the final buzzer but came up just short in a tightly contested matchup against Wayne County, falling 45 - 47.
Ware County showed grit and composure throughout the game, matching Wayne County possession for possession. In a back-and-forth contest that featured multiple lead changes, the Lady Gators had opportunities down the stretch but were unable to overcome the narrow deficit.
Despite the loss, the Lady Gators remain focused as they turn their attention to the consolation Finals round.
Gators Advance to Championship Game
The Varsity Boys delivered a strong second-half performance to defeat Benedictine 65 - 56, improving their season record to an impressive 23 - 3.
Senior standout Masiyer McKoy led the charge with 22 points, including a dominant 16-point explosion in the fourth quarter to help seal the victory. When the game tightened late, McKoy elevated his play, attacking the rim and knocking down key shots to keep the Gators in control.
Isaiah White added 19 points, connecting on six three-pointers to provide the offensive spark from beyond the arc. White’s perimeter shooting stretched the defense and opened up driving lanes that proved crucial in the closing minutes.
With the win, the Gators punched their ticket to the Region Championship and continue to build momentum heading into Friday night.

Both teams will return to Warner Robins on Friday 2/13/2026 for the final round of tournament action:

The boys will look for revenge against Wayne County with a Region Title on the line, while the Lady Gators aim to finish strong in the consolation matchup.
