The Ware County Junior Varsity Gators showed resilience and determination Wednesday afternoon, rallying from a four-run deficit to defeat Appling County 6 - 4 at Gator Field on 

The Gators found themselves in an early hole after Appling County struck first in the top of the opening inning. A single by Appling’s #21 drove in one run, and a Ware County error allowed two more to cross the plate. In the second inning, a base hit by #1 extended the lead to 4–0.

Despite the early deficit, Ware County never wavered.

The Gators chipped away and delivered their biggest punch in the bottom of the sixth inning. Blake Gunter sparked the rally with a clutch double. Jayce Pearson followed by drawing a walk, and Brodie Burchett grounded out to drive in a run. The aggressive baserunning and timely execution allowed Ware County to surge ahead and complete the comeback.

Strong Effort on the Mound

Blake Gunter earned the win in relief, tossing two innings while allowing just two hits and no runs. He struck out one and walked one in a steady performance.

Asher Lee got the start for the Gators, working two innings and surrendering three runs (none earned) on two hits while striking out one and walking one.

Easton Law and Jaccheus Cooper each contributed shutout innings in relief, helping keep Appling County off the scoreboard down the stretch. Wes Jordan closed the door to secure the save.

Offensive Highlights

-Ware County’s offense was balanced all night:

-Asher Lee, Blake Gunter, Hayes Sweat, and Reavis Barnes each recorded one hit.

-Asher Lee, Blake Gunter, and Reavis Barnes each drove in a run.

-Jayce Pearson swiped two bases.

-The Gators totaled seven stolen bases on the day.

-Ware County also turned one double play defensively.

The JV Gators return to action Thursday, February 12, 2026, at home as they host Camden County at Gator Field. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM.
