The Ware County Rifle Team turned in another dominant performance Tuesday afternoon, hosting Savannah High School at the Ware County Shooting Complex. Shooting a 3x10 Air Rifle course of fire, the Gators posted an impressive team score of 1161 with 68 centers, comfortably outpacing Savannah’s 698 with 8 centers.
Ware A Sets the Tone
Ware’s top squad, Ware A, delivered a nearly flawless performance across all three positions:
Kneeling: 393 - 25 centers
Prone: 400 - 35 centers
Standing: 375 - 12 centers
Aggregate: 1161 - 68 centers
Leading the way individually was Gabbie Howard, who fired a match-high 293 (18 centers), highlighted by a perfect 100 in prone. Close behind was Camdyn Thornton with a 291 (21 centers), followed by Grant Johnson at 289 (16 centers).
Strong depth once again proved to be the difference, as Autumn Buskirk (288), Aniston Pittman (287), Mason Briggs (287), and Angel Hernandez (286) all delivered steady performances to secure the commanding win.
Strong Showing Across All Squads
Ware’s depth was on full display with multiple teams competing:
Ware 4-H placed second overall with a solid 1123 - 50 centers, led by Greyson Christmas (287) and Allie Herrin (285).
Ware B finished third with 1085 - 37 centers, paced by Nicholas Hensley (280) and Ben Dean (274).
Ware C added valuable experience and competition reps, posting a 997 - 21 centers.
Savannah High was led by Treyvon Riddle, who shot a 256 (4 centers), followed by Joseph Floyd (231) and Jaquell Blige (211).
Dominance in Prone
One of the highlights of the match was Ware’s dominance in the prone position. Ware A combined for a near-perfect 400, demonstrating elite-level consistency and focus. That precision created early separation and allowed the Gators to control the match from start to finish.
