The Ware County Gators Tennis Teams traveled to Berrien County High School on Thursday, February 5, 2026, and came away with a split decision as the Lady Gators dropped a tight 4 - 1 match while the Varsity Boys opened the season in dominant fashion with a 5 - 0 sweep.
On the girls’ side, Ware County battled throughout the afternoon against a strong Berrien lineup. The lone win for the Lady Gators came at first doubles, where Paislee Wildes and Kayleigh LeMay picked up an impressive victory. Several other matches came down to the wire, including a competitive three-set match at first singles by Elly Blackrick. At second doubles, Ella Beth Cox and Millee Denton also pushed their match to three sets, narrowly missing another point for Ware.
The Varsity Boys wasted no time making a statement in their season opener. Ware County earned straight-set victories across the board to secure a convincing 5 - 0 win and move to 1 - 0 on the year. In singles play, JV Manabat, Miles Smith, and Baylor Peacock each collected dominant straight-set wins. The doubles teams of Cash Carter and Landon Lingenfelter, along with Bridge Little and Eli Cook, completed the sweep with efficient victories of their own.
Additionally, Payden Wildes picked up a win in exhibition play to cap off a strong afternoon for the Gators.
The Ware County Gators will return to action on Monday, February 9, 2026, when they host the Camden County Wildcats at home, with first serve scheduled for 4:00 PM.
Go Gators!
