Ware County closed out the regular season Tuesday night in the Gator Den with postseason stakes on the line, hosting Warner Robins in a key Region 1 - AAAA matchup that determined tournament seeding for both the Lady Gators and Varsity Boys.
In the opening contest, the Lady Gators were unable to slow a strong Warner Robins squad and fell by a score of 67 - 46. Despite the loss, Ware County accomplished its main objective, securing the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Region 1 - AAAA Tournament. The Lady Gators now turn their focus to postseason play with a chance to make a deep run.
The Varsity Boys ensured the night ended on a high note, earning a 51 - 39 victory over the Demons in the nightcap. With the win, the Gators clinched the No. 1 seed in the Region 1 - AAAA Tournament and wrapped up the regular season with an outstanding 22 - 3 overall record and a 9 - 1 mark in region play.
Ware County leaned on a balanced offensive effort to control the game. Kevin Ramsey led the way with 13 points, while Elan Jones delivered a complete performance with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Isaiah White added 12 points, as the Gators set the tone defensively and dictated the pace throughout the contest.
Next on the schedule for Ware County is the Region 1 - AAAA Tournament, which will be hosted in Warner Robins. Tournament action begins with the semifinals on Wednesday, followed by the region championship games on Friday.
The Lady Gators will open semifinal play on Wednesday at 4:00 PM, facing the Wayne County Yellow Jackets. The Varsity Boys will take the floor in the 8:30 PM nightcap, meeting the winner of New Hampstead and Benedictine.
