The Ware County Gator Varsity Basketball Teams hosted a special Friday night doubleheader in the Gator Den on January 30, 2026, welcoming Hilliard (FL) for the girls’ contest before the Varsity Boys squared off with Benedictine* in a Region 1 - AAAA showdown. The night also served as Kennedy Sanders Night, adding extra energy and meaning to an already electric atmosphere.
The Lady Gators opened the evening in a tightly contested matchup against Hilliard, Florida. Ware County battled from start to finish but ultimately came up just short, falling by a score of 52 - 49. Despite the narrow loss, the Lady Gators continue to hold a strong position in region play and now stand at 11 - 11 overall and 5 - 2 in Region 1 - AAAA.
In the nightcap, the Gator boys delivered a statement win, knocking off region rival Benedictine* by a final score of 55–49. In front of a lively home crowd, Ware County made key defensive stops and timely plays down the stretch to secure the victory. With the win, the Gators improve to 21 - 3 overall and 8 - 1 in Region 1 - AAAA, keeping themselves firmly in the region title conversation.

Ware County will be back in action on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as the Gators host the Warner Robins Demons in the Gator Den. The Varsity Girls will tip off at 6:00 PM, followed by the Varsity Boys at 7:30 PM.
