The Ware County Gator Rifle Team turned in a strong all-around performance on Monday night, hosting the Brunswick Pirates at the Ware County Shooting Range in Waycross. Competing in a 3x10 Air Rifle match, Ware showcased its depth and precision, claiming the top three team spots and finishing the night with multiple standout individual scores.
Ware County A led the way, posting an aggregate team score of 1163 with 69 centers, powered by consistent shooting across kneeling, prone, and standing. Gabbie Howard paced the Gators individually with a 294 (20 centers), while Autumn Buskirk and Camdyn Thornton each added scores of 290, and Angel Hernandez followed closely with a 289. The balanced lineup proved difficult to match throughout the match.
Brunswick High finished second with a team score of 1081 (41 centers), led by Dayani Hernandez-Aguilar’s 280. Ware’s depth continued to shine as Ware B placed third with a 1075 (22 centers), highlighted by Ben Dean’s 277 and solid contributions across the roster.
Additional Ware squads rounded out the field, with Ware C totaling 950 and the Ware 4-H team finishing with 820. Notably, Greyson Christmas delivered an excellent individual effort for Ware 4-H, scoring 285 with 15 centers.
Up Next: The Gator Rifle Team is back in action Tuesday, January 27, hosting Brunswick and St. Vincent’s at the Ware County Shooting Range. Competition is set to begin at 5:00 PM.
