The Ware County Gator Rifle Team turned in an outstanding performance on Tuesday, January 14, 2026, as they hosted Glynn Academy at the Ware County rifle range in a 3x10 Air Rifle competition in Waycross.
Ware County controlled the match from start to finish, placing multiple teams at the top of the standings and demonstrating both depth and precision across all three firing positions.
Leading the way was Ware A, which captured first place overall with a commanding team aggregate score of 1151. The Gators were consistent in kneeling, prone, and standing, setting the pace for the rest of the field. Gabbie Howard delivered the top individual performance of the night with a 291 aggregate, while Autumn Buskirk and Camdyn Thornton followed closely with 287 each. Angel Hernandez and Grant Johnson added scores of 286, rounding out an impressive team effort.
The Ware 4-H team finished second overall with a score of 1106, led by Greyson Christmas, who posted a 284 aggregate. Strong contributions from Eli Locklear, Carson Caswell, Allie Herrin, and Aleeah Eason helped keep the Gators firmly in the top two.
Glynn Academy placed third with a team total of 1086, paced by Racie Zantow and Lainey Wilcox, who each recorded a 276 aggregate. Ware County’s B Team finished fourth overall with a score of 1077, highlighted by solid outings from Ben Dean (275) and Nicholas Hensley (273).
