The Ware County Gator swim team took to the pool on Saturday, January 10, 2026, competing in the multi-team Coffee Winter Invitational in Douglas. Facing a strong field of programs from across South Georgia, the Gators delivered several highlight performances while continuing to gain valuable experience heading into the postseason.

The Ware County boys were led by a dominant showing from Jet Townsend, who claimed first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:16.67. Matthew Davis turned in an outstanding all-around performance, winning the 100 Yard Freestyle in 55.08 and following it up with another first-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke at 1:07.51, giving the Gators two individual event champions on the day.

Sprint depth was another strength for Ware County, as George Breed IV captured first place in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a winning time of 23.77. Teammates William Breed and Christian Manning also placed among the top finishers, showcasing the Gators’ speed in the short events. In distance action, Morris Lewis represented Ware County in the 200 Yard Freestyle, while the boys relay teams competed well throughout the meet, highlighted by a strong third-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay.

The Lady Gators continued to gain confidence and momentum in a competitive meet environment. Bailey Wyatt led the Ware County girls with a third-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle and also competed in the sprint freestyle events. Chloe Wyatt, Kate Thorderson, Morgen Coffie, Karmyn Jones, and Emma Mock all contributed across multiple individual events, while the Ware County girls relay teams finished fifth in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay and third in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, closing the meet on a strong note.

Overall, the Coffee Winter Invitational provided the Ware County swimmers with key race experience against top competition as the season moves toward its most important meets.

Next up for the Gator swimmers will be a postseason test, as Ware County travels to Warner Robins on Thursday, January 15, 2026, to compete in the Region 1 – AAAA Swim Championships.
