The Ware County Gator Wrestling Team turned in a strong performance on Friday and Saturday, December 12 - 13, traveling to Effingham County High School to compete in the Rebel Invitational Tournament.

Competing against a deep and competitive field, the Gators finished third overall as a team, scoring 228.5 points over the two-day event. South Effingham claimed the team title, followed by Richmond Hill in second place. Ware County’s podium finish came ahead of several region opponents, including Benedictine, Wayne County, and New Hampstead, highlighting another impressive showing for the Gators this season.

Individually, Ware County had several standout performances. Jadon McKelvin and Gunter Fore were named Wrestlers of the Event after each went a perfect 4 - 0 on the weekend to claim first-place finishes in their respective weight classes. McKelvin was further recognized for his performance by earning the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler Award.

Strong finishes continued throughout the lineup, with Rodrigo Reyes and Jordan Maxwell both earning second-place finishes. Ashton Cox placed third, while Kyler Matthews finished fourth in their weight classes. Rounding out the placers were Noah Paul, Evan Thomas, and Collin Deal, each securing fifth place finishes.

Additional match winners for the Gators during the tournament included Leve Moore, Wesley Frye, Jadon Halladay, and Leland Nettles, contributing valuable points to the team total.

The Ware County Gator Wrestlers will be back in action on Saturday, December 20, 2025, when they travel to Valdosta to compete in the Wildcat Invitational. Wrestling is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM.
