The Ware County Gators Swim Team delivered an impressive showing on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, as they hosted a competitive multi-team meet at the Waycross YMCA. With standout individual performances, relay success, and personal milestones achieved, the Gators continued to build momentum in their 2025 - 2026 campaign.
Junior Josh Smith set the tone early for Ware County, powering his way to a 1st-place finish in the boys 200-yard Individual Medley.
In the girls 200-yard Individual Medley, sophomore Kate Thorderson turned in a strong performance of her own, earning a 2nd-place finish and adding valuable points to the Gators’ overall total.
Senior distance standout Matthew Davis dominated the boys 500-yard Freestyle, claiming 1st place with a commanding swim.
Freshman Chloe Wyatt continued her breakout season with a 1st-place finish in the girls 100-yard Butterfly, cementing herself as one of the brightest young talents in the program.
The evening wrapped up with a strong team effort in the girls 400-yard Freestyle Relay, where the quartet of Chloe Wyatt, Bailey Wyatt, Karmyn Jones, and Kate Thorderson raced to an impressive 3rd - place finish against a deep field of competition.
One of the most celebrated moments of the night came from J’Mariyus Burn, who set a personal record in the boys 50 - yard Freestyle, breaking the one-minute mark for the first time.
At the end of the meet, the Gators finished 5th overall, a solid showing as the team continues to grow, improve, and prepare for championship season.
