Jeff Davis High School - December 5 - 6, 2025

The Ware County Gator Wrestling program delivered an impressive showing at the Yellow Jacket Duals hosted by Jeff Davis High School this past Friday and Saturday. Across both days of competition, the Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls demonstrated depth, dominance, and continued improvement as the season progresses.


Friday Recap - Gators Dominate with 4-0 Sweep

The Varsity Boys opened the tournament in commanding fashion, finishing a perfect 4–0 on Friday. Ware County overpowered each opponent, posting the following results:

  • Ware County 76 - Lamar County 6

  • Ware County 53 - East Laurens 24

  • Ware County 77 - Bacon County 5

  • Ware County 75 - Jeff Davis 0

The team showcased exceptional balance across weight classes, securing bonus-point victories throughout the day to control each dual from start to finish.

Varsity Girls Shine on Day One

The Varsity Girls also turned in an outstanding performance on Friday:

  • Strong 2-1 finishes (each with 2 pinfalls):

The girls’ performances contributed greatly to the program’s successful start to the weekend.


Saturday Recap – Gators Battle to 4th Place in Loaded Field

The Varsity Boys wrapped up competition on Saturday with a 4th place finish in an extremely competitive bracket featuring some of the top programs in the region.

Pool Play

Ware County claimed the Pool D Championship, defeating the Lexington Wildcats 52 - 24, earning a spot in the Gold Bracket (Top 8).

  • Quarterfinals:

    Ware County 69 - Brantley County 6

    A commanding win advanced the Gators to the semifinals.

  • Semifinals vs. Toombs County (#2 in Class 1A):

    In one of the most intense duals of the weekend, the Gators fell just short 42–41, with the Bulldogs taking the victory on criteria after a tie in match points.

  • 3rd Place Match vs. Bradley Central (TN):

    Ware County looked to bounce back but came up short 49–28, finishing 4th overall.
