GATORS BATTLE TO 4TH-PLACE FINISH AT WILDCAT DUALS
Hendrix and Miller claim pool championships; Cox and Maxwell go undefeated
The Ware County Wrestling program hit the road Saturday for a full day of action at Valdosta High School, competing in the Wildcat Duals and the Girls Callout. The Varsity Boys earned a strong 4th-place team finish, while the Lady Gators saw two wrestlers bring home pool championships in an outstanding early-season showing.
Varsity Boys Finish 4th After Strong Rebound
The Gators opened their pool against a powerful Colquitt County squad. Despite a gritty effort, Ware County came up just short, falling 33–39 to the Packers—who went on to win the entire event. The Gators quickly answered back, earning a 41–36 victory over Mary Persons to close out pool action.
In the crossover round, Ware County continued to roll, knocking off region opponent Perry 42–32. The Gators then finished the day in commanding fashion, defeating Lowndes 60–18 to secure 4th place overall.
Two Gators delivered standout individual performances:
Freshman Ashton Cox: 4 - 0, 24 team points, 2 falls, 2 forfeits
Senior Jordan Maxwell: 4 - 0, 23 team points, 2 falls, 1 tech fall, 1 forfeit
Both were named Wrestlers of the Day for their undefeated runs and consistency across all four duals.
Lady Gators Shine in Girls Callout
The Girls Callout did not include team scoring, but the Lady Gators still made their presence known.
Senior Emelee Hendrix dominated her pool with a perfect 3 - 0 record, earning three pinfall victories on the day.
Senior Hannah Miller battled her way to a 2 - 1 finish with two pins, securing the pool championship alongside Hendrix.
Freshman Audrina Streeter, competing in her first high school event, went 1-1 with a pin - an impressive debut that showcased her potential in the lower weights.
Gators Building Momentum
With strong performances across the board, Ware County continues to gain momentum early in the season. The combination of experienced senior leadership and rising young talent was on full display in Valdosta, setting the stage for continued growth in the weeks ahead.
