JONES COUNTY, GA - November 1, 2025
The Ware County Gator Cross Country program closed out an impressive 2025 campaign with a strong showing at the GHSA AAAA East Sectional Meet on Saturday in Jones County. Facing some of the top programs from across the state, the Gator boys placed third in Region and 16th overall, highlighted by every varsity runner breaking the 21-minute barrier - a major milestone for the team.
Leading the charge was Brayten, who turned in a stellar personal record (PR) time of 18:22, finishing 7th overall in Region. Close behind were Brock (19:38, 16th Region), Wesley (20:13, 19th Region), and Silas (20:13, 20th Region), all contributing key points toward the team’s regional podium finish. Rounding out the varsity effort were Lorenzo (20:37), Damari (20:55), and Gio (20:59) - each delivering strong performances to cap an outstanding team effort.
On the JV side, Jameson earned special recognition by smashing his season goal, posting a personal best of 32:02 - a remarkable improvement from his 41:16 debut earlier in the season.
The Lady Gators also made their mark at Sectionals. Faith led the girls with a time of 29:32, while Ah’Zion celebrated a huge PR of 37:25, cutting more than seven minutes from her early-season performance.
Head Coach Brittany Hood praised the effort and growth shown by both teams this season.
“Our runners have worked hard all year, and to see nearly every athlete setting personal records at Sectionals shows just how much progress we’ve made,” the coach said. “This group’s dedication and heart make the future of Gator Cross Country very bright.”
