The Ware County Gators capped off their Region 1-AAAA schedule in emphatic fashion Friday night, October 31, 2025, rolling past rival Wayne County by a score of 42-0 in Waycross. With the win, the Gators closed the regular season at 8-2 overall.
Total Domination
Ware County wasted no time asserting control. In the opening quarter, Tayshaun Franklin opened the game with a 70-yard kickoff return touchdown, setting the tone for the evening. Quarterback Isaiah White then connected on a 23-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-0 after one quarter.
In the second quarter, the Gators’ ground game took over. Jamir Boyd scored on runs of 4 and 3 yards, pushing the halftime lead to 28-0. The offensive line continued to impose its will after the break, as White added an 11-yard rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Running back Jamario Rice capped off the night with a 10-yard scoring run in the fourth, sealing the 42-0 shutout.
Defensively, Ware County was equally dominant. The Gators held the Yellow Jackets to minimal offensive yardage, allowing just 31 rushing yards and 22 passing yards, according to MaxPreps. The defensive front consistently pressured the quarterback and stifled any attempt at momentum from Wayne County.

Playoff Preview: Gators at Flowery Branch Falcons
Opponent Overview
The Flowery Branch Falcons enter the playoffs with a strong 6-2 overall record and a 3-1 region mark. The Falcons have scored 239 points this season while allowing just under 200, demonstrating a capable offense but a defense that has shown vulnerability against explosive teams.
Keys to the Matchup
Ware County’s Front Seven vs. Harper: The Gators’ defense has been elite all season. Shutting down Harper will be crucial to controlling the game’s tempo.
Secondary Containment: With Strum and Shields forming a dangerous passing duo, Ware’s defensive backs will need another strong outing.
Offensive Balance: Behind White’s poise and Boyd’s power, the Gators’ balanced attack has produced nearly 200 rushing yards per game and 160 passing yards per game. Maintaining that rhythm will be key on the road.
Momentum: Ware’s 42-0 win provides a confidence boost, but playoff football requires discipline - limiting penalties and turnovers will be vital.
What to Expect
Both teams bring experience and firepower into the matchup, but the Gators’ physicality and depth may give them the edge. If Ware’s defense continues its dominant trend and the offense executes early, the Gators could punch their ticket to the second round.
