The Ware County Gators protected their home turf at Memorial Stadium on Friday night, defeating the visiting Perry Panthers 21–14 in a pivotal Region 1–AAAA matchup. The win lifts Ware County to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in region play, while Perry drops to 4-4 overall and 2-1 in the region.
Game Recap
Both defenses came ready to play early, forcing a scoreless first quarter. The teams traded touchdowns in the second, sending the game to halftime tied at 7-7. Coming out of the break, the Gators found rhythm offensively, punching in a third-quarter score to take the lead. Ware County’s defense then stepped up in the final period, holding Perry in check while the offense added another touchdown to secure the 21-14 victory.
Gators Stay in the Hunt
The win keeps Ware County firmly in contention for the Region 1-AAAA title race. The Gators have now won four of their last five games and continue to display the physical defense and balanced offense that have become their calling card under Head Coach Jason Strickland.
Up Next:
Ware County will travel to Warner Robins next Friday, October 24, for another critical region matchup with the Demons. The Gators will then return home on Friday, October 31, to host the Wayne County Yellow Jackets in the regular season finale at Memorial Stadium.
