The Ware County Lady Gators closed out the regular season on a high note Wednesday evening, defeating the Coffee County Lady Trojans 4 - 2 at Gator Field.
Ware County got on the board early in the bottom of the second when Cassidy Lee drove in a run on a groundout. The Gators extended their lead in the third inning as Ashlyn Jacobs doubled to center and Teriayn Kirkland followed with a line drive single down the right field line - each plating a run to make it 3–0.
Coffee answered in the sixth with a solo home run to center by Karlee Thomas, but the Lady Gators’ defense held firm to protect their lead.
In the circle, Teriayn Kirkland turned in another outstanding performance. She only allowed three hits and two runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out eight and walking two.
At the plate, Kara Coleman led the Gators’ offense, going a perfect 3 - for - 3. Jacobs, Kirkland, and Ella Musgrove each contributed an RBI, while the defense remained flawless with Kallie Lairsey recording a team-high eight defensive plays.
For Coffee County, Thomas and Imori Paulk each tallied an RBI, while Ella Edge added speed on the bases with two steals.
With the win, Ware County wraps up regular - season play with strong momentum heading into the postseason.

The Lady Gators advance to the GHSA AAAA State Playoffs and will travel to Walnut Grove for the opening round.
