The Ware County Lady Gators Softball team had a big night on Thursday, October 2, 2025, as they hosted the Charlton County Indians for a doubleheader at Gator Field. In a pair of high-scoring games, the Lady Gators showed resilience at the plate and toughness in the circle, coming away with two wins, 16-12 and 9-6.

Game One: Ware 16, Charlton 12

The bats came alive early and never cooled off in the opener. Ware County piled up 18 hits, highlighted by a monster performance from Ashlyn Jacobs, who drove in four runs on three hits. Jacobs doubled in the fourth inning to score two, doubled again in the fifth to plate one, and added a two-RBI single in the seventh.

The Lady Gators scored first in the opening inning when Kallie Lairsey grounded out to bring in a run. Charlton answered quickly, but Ware’s steady pressure at the plate proved too much.

Offensively, Addi Pittman also collected three hits, while Teriayn Kirkland, Mattie Forsyth, Cassidy Lee, Kara Coleman, and Ella Musgrove each turned in multi-hit efforts. Ware showed patience at the plate as well, drawing nine walks, with Musgrove leading the way with three. The Lady Gators also stayed aggressive on the basepaths, swiping seven bases, including two from Musgrove.

In the circle, Kayleigh LeMay went the distance, striking out six while walking just one in seven innings of work.

Charlton County finished with 14 hits of their own, but Ware’s offense proved too steady as the Lady Gators secured the 16-12 victory.

Game Two: Ware 9, Charlton 6

In the nightcap, Ware County once again struck first, capitalizing on early Charlton errors to plate two runs in the top of the first. After trading blows in the early innings, the Lady Gators reclaimed the lead for good in the third when Kara Coleman and Addi Pittman delivered clutch RBI singles.

With the game tight in the late innings, Amberley Padgett gave Ware breathing room by launching a two-run homer to center in the top of the seventh.

In the circle, Teriayn Kirkland was lights out in relief. She struck out 10 batters in five innings, allowing just two hits and no runs. Cassidy Lee started the game and gave way to Kirkland after the first inning.

At the plate, Ware tallied 12 hits. Ella Musgrove led from the leadoff spot, going 3-for-4, while Coleman and Padgett each drove in two runs. Pittman chipped in two hits in three trips.

Charlton was led by Callie Carter, who drove in three with a triple, and Ella Privett, who added two hits and two stolen bases.

A Strong Night for the Lady Gators

In total, Ware County finished the doubleheader with 30 hits across two games, highlighted by Jacobs’ five RBIs, Padgett’s clutch homer, and Kirkland’s dominant relief outing. The sweep showed the Lady Gators’ ability to win both slugfests and tight contests.
