The Ware County Cross Country team hit the course this week at the 1st Annual FOR COFFEE Invitational, taking on a competitive field that included runners from Coffee, Camden, Valdosta, and Atkinson County.
On the boys’ side, Ware County finished 4th out of 5 teams, led by a pack of runners who kept each other close throughout the race. Brayten H paced the squad with a 17th-place finish at 19:40, while Brock P turned in a personal record at 19:44 for 19th overall. Wesley F wasn’t far behind in 20th place at 19:54. Lorenzo H (20:51) and Damari B (20:54) rounded out the Gators’ top five.
Several other runners put in strong efforts, including Silas M (21:48), Gio S (22:07), Ashton S (23:34), Seth K (24:33), and Jax Y, who earned a new PR with a time of 25:22. Colton L (29:43) and Antwan B (30:00) also recorded personal bests, while Jameson A showed great toughness in finishing with a time of 44:49.
The Lady Gators also turned in notable performances. Faith W led the way with a 30:25 finish, good for 24th overall. Bronwyn B set a new PR at 33:26, while Ah’Zion S crossed the line in 40:14.
In total, Ware County runners combined for four new personal records on the day, a clear sign of progress as the team continues to build momentum this season.
The Gators will look to carry this improvement into their next meet as they continue their fall schedule.
