The future of Ware County football was on full display Thursday, September 18, 2025, as both the Ninth Grade and Junior Varsity Gators turned in commanding performances against the Brunswick Pirates. The ninth-grade squad hit the road to Glynn County Stadium, while the JV team held down home turf at Memorial Stadium.
The Ninth Grade Gators made quick work of the Pirates, rolling to a 32-0 shutout victory. Jimmy Taylor led the charge with two receiving touchdowns and two rushing scores, while Bryson Manson added a touchdown grab. Quarterback Kieran Brown tossed a pair of touchdown passes, and Chase Cone connected for one as well. Riyland Munford chipped in with several key catches to keep drives alive.
On the defensive side, Ware County refused to give Brunswick any room to breathe. The Gators’ front was relentless, with Marquez Jenkins, Gary Dulin, RJ Munford, and Jaylon Perry piling up sacks and tackles for loss. Zach Solomon, Rahiem McGauley, and Kyson Taylor also made their presence felt in a complete team effort.
Back in Waycross, the Junior Varsity Gators kept the energy rolling with a 42-12 win over the JV Pirates at Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Ryder Gilbert showed strong command of the offense, throwing touchdown passes to Moo Moo McKoy, Adarius Brown, and Brodie Burchett. The ground game was equally effective, with Justin Hampton, Alex Lacey, and Deshavious Gibson each finding the end zone.
Special teams added the finishing touch, as kicker Joel Cortez drilled all six extra-point attempts. The defense swarmed Brunswick throughout the night, never allowing the Pirates to get comfortable. From start to finish, Ware County controlled every phase of the game.
Now, all eyes turn to Friday night, September 19, when the Varsity Gators celebrate Homecoming 2025 at Memorial Stadium. Ware County will host the Lincoln Trojans from Tallahassee, Florida, in a highly anticipated matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.
Looking Back: When Lincoln last visited the Swamp in 2024, the Trojans left with a hard-fought 10-0 victory. This year, the Gators will be looking for payback on their home field, and with the added excitement of Homecoming, the atmosphere should be electric.
Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased online at GoFan.co or at the gate. Fans are encouraged to arrive early for Homecoming festivities and to support the Gators under the lights.
As always, we remind our Gator faithful:
Clear Bag Policy will be enforced at Memorial Stadium.
No re-entry is allowed.
Concessions will be available.
For those unable to attend in person, the game will be streamed live on the NFHS Network.
It’s been a strong week for Gator Football at every level—and Friday night, the Varsity looks to keep that momentum going in front of a Homecoming crowd.
