The Ware County Lady Gators Softball team was back in action Monday night under the lights in the Swamp, hosting the Appling County Pirates in a non-region contest. Despite battling hard, the Gators came up short, falling 10-1.

Kayleigh LeMay got the start in the circle for Ware County, striking out five across five innings of work while also driving in the Gators’ lone run of the night. At the plate, Ware showed patience with five walks, but the big hit to break things open never came. Defensively, the Lady Gators turned a double play to keep the crowd energized.

The loss does not affect region standings, and the team is eager to reset quickly. The Lady Gators open Region 1-AAAA play on Tuesday, September 16, as they travel to Jesup to take on Wayne County in a key early-season matchup.  JV will begin at 4:00 PM, Varsity will follow at 6:00 PM.
