The Ware County Junior Varsity Gators showed plenty of fight Thursday night, rallying late to pull out a 21-18 win over the Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane in a hard-fought battle.
Ware fell behind early and trailed 12-7 at the half after a couple of costly turnovers gave Fitzgerald extra opportunities. The Gators regrouped at the break and came out sharper in the second half, but the Hurricanes continued to battle. With just over five minutes left in the fourth quarter, Fitzgerald punched in what looked to be the go-ahead score to take an 18-14 lead.
That’s when the Gators went to work. Mixing in tough runs and timely passes, Ware put together a clutch drive that ended in the go-ahead touchdown. The defense then made a stand in the final minute, shutting the door on Fitzgerald’s last-chance effort and sealing the 21-18 victory.

Thursday, Sept. 18 - 9th Grade Football will be on the road to Brunswick to face the Pirates, while the JV Gators will host Brunswick here at home. Both games are set to kick off at 5:00 PM.
Friday, Sept. 19 - Varsity will host Lincoln (Tallahassee, FL) at Memorial Stadium as we celebrate Homecoming 2025. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
