The Ware County Lady Gators hit the road on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, to open Region 1-AAAA play against the Perry Lady Panthers. Despite a determined effort, the Gators came up short, falling 6-2.
Perry struck early, pushing across two runs in the bottom of the first inning to grab control of the game. The Lady Panthers added a run in the second and another in the third to extend their lead to 4-0.
The Gators settled in and battled throughout. Senior pitcher Kayleigh LeMay went the distance in the circle, working six innings while allowing eight hits and six runs of which, only four of which were earned. She also recorded one strikeout and helped her own cause at the plate with a hit and an RBI.
The Lady Gators’ offense found some rhythm late in the game, with Mattie Forsyth, Cassidy Lee, Kallie Lairsey, and LeMay each collecting hits. Ella Musgrove joined LeMay in driving in runs, while the defense turned a double play to keep Perry from adding more damage.
Perry’s pitching staff kept Ware County quiet for much of the night, striking out seven batters and giving up just four hits. Offensively, the Panthers were led by Addison Sisa and Abigail Nails, who each tallied two hits, while Avery Grant drove in two runs.
With the result, the Lady Gators move to 0-1 in region play and will look to bounce back quickly. They return home to Gator Field on Monday to host Appling County in another key matchup. Tickets will be $7.00 and can be purchased online at GoFan.co or at the gate.
