9/4/2025: Lady Gators Fall to Brantley County at Gator Field

The Ware County Lady Gator Softball Teams hosted Brantley County on Thursday evening at Gator Field in the Swamp, with both the JV and Varsity squads taking the field.

In the opening contest, the JV Lady Gators struggled to keep pace and dropped a 15-0 decision to the JV Lady Herons. Brantley County struck early with a big first inning and continued to build on their lead in the second and third. Despite a hard effort, the Lady Gators were unable to mount a comeback at the plate.

In the nightcap, the Varsity Lady Gators battled in a back-and-forth game before falling 9-4 to the Varsity Lady Herons. Ware County struck first when Mattie Forsyth drove in a run in the opening inning. Another run came across in the second on a passed ball, cutting the Brantley lead to 3-1.

The Lady Gators regained momentum in the fifth when an error allowed a run to score, giving Ware a 4-3 advantage. However, Brantley responded with a strong sixth inning and never looked back.

Kayleigh LeMay worked nearly seven innings in the circle for Ware County, allowing 12 hits while striking out two. Forsyth, Kara Coleman, and Ella Musgrove led the way offensively, with Forsyth and Coleman each driving in a run and Musgrove adding two hits. Defensively, the Lady Gators also turned a double play.

Brantley finished with 12 hits on the night, paced by Rilee Story and Sydnee Davis, who both had big games at the plate.

Next up for the Varsity Lady Gators is a road trip to take on Northside this Friday.
