8/28/2025: Gators 9th Grade and JV Football Battle Valdosta Wildcats
The Ware County Gators 9th Grade Football team traveled to Valdosta to take on the Wildcats and fell by a score of 34 - 30. The young Gators turned in several standout performances. Jimmy Taylor had a breakout game, rushing for 150 yards and two touchdowns while also catching another score. Riyland Munford hauled in a touchdown reception, and quarterbacks Chase Cone and Kieran Brown each played well in leading the offense. Cone threw for 150 yards and a touchdown, while Brown also tossed a scoring strike.
The defense matched the energy of the offense, with Marquez Jenkins making several tackles for loss to disrupt Valdosta’s ground game. Jimmy Green and Josiah Ivey both came up with key interceptions, giving Ware extra possessions and momentum throughout the contest.
In Junior Varsity action, the Gators picked up a strong 34 - 13 victory over Valdosta in a game full of big plays. Quarterback Ryder Gilbert showed confidence in the pocket, connecting on touchdown passes to Justin Hampton and Letarrian Hayes. On the ground, Moo Moo McKoy scored twice to give Ware a balanced attack.
The defense also made its presence known, highlighted by a pick-six from Teshaun Wilson. On special teams, kicker Joel Cortez converted 4 - of - 5 extra point attempts, helping Ware County build and maintain control on the scoreboard.
