Even though Ware County Varsity Gators collected six hits to Long County Varsity Lady Tide's five, they still fell 5-2 on Wednesday. Kallie Lairsey led Ware County Varsity Gators with two hits. Ware County got on the board in the third inning after Ashlyn Jacobs doubled, scoring one run.
Long County took the lead in the bottom of the third inning after Sophia Brewster singled down the left field line, Mckenzie Crews grounded out, and Ware County Varsity Gators committed an error, each scoring one run.
Kayleigh LeMay led things off in the circle for Ware County Varsity Gators. The pitcher allowed five hits and five runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out four and walking none. Sophia Brewster stepped in the circle first for Long County Varsity Lady Tide. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out eight and walking one.
Ashlyn Jacobs and Kara Coleman each drove in one run for Ware County.
Sophia Brewster went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Long County Varsity Lady Tide in hits. Maddi Brannen, Lana Lewis, Mckenzie Crews, and Sophia Brewster each drove in one run for Long County Varsity Lady Tide.
Ware County Varsity Gators play at home on Thursday against Glynn Academy in their next game.
