The Ware County Gators improved to 2-0 on the season Friday night, defeating the Coffee County Trojans 24–14 at Memorial Stadium in Waycross. A strong third quarter turned the tide after a close first half.
Scoring Breakdown
1st Quarter: Ware County opened with a 15-yard field goal to lead 3–0.
2nd Quarter: Coffee answered with a 25-yard touchdown pass to go up 7–3 at the half.
3rd Quarter: Ware County took control with three straight scores:
20-yard touchdown pass to reclaim the lead, 10–7.
Defensive fumble return for a touchdown extended the lead to 17–7.
Tayshaun Franklin rushing TD pushed it to 24–7.
4th Quarter: Coffee added a late passing touchdown, but Ware held on for the 24–14 win.
