The Ware County JV Lady Gators hosted the Charlton County Lady Indians on Thursday, August 21, 2025, for a doubleheader at Gator Field in the Swamp. Despite strong efforts at the plate and in the circle, the Lady Gators came up short in both contests.
In Game One, Charlton County jumped out early with three runs in the opening frame and kept momentum throughout, ultimately earning a 12 - 4 victory. Ware’s highlights included steady offensive contributions from Ainsley Watson, Darah Durrance, and Kendall Deloach, while Cassidy Lee worked in the circle. Defensively, the Gators turned a double play to help limit damage.
Game Two saw the Lady Gators bounce back with more energy at the plate. Ware County grabbed an early lead in the second inning behind a run-scoring hit-by-pitch from Claira Chancey and a two-run triple from Lauren Belle. Belle went 2-for-3 in the game with two RBI, while Emily Palm and Deloach also tallied multiple hits. Maggie McQuaig got the start in the circle and battled through Charlton’s aggressive lineup.
Charlton County, however, used timely hitting and baserunning to regain control, posting multiple runs in the third inning and holding off Ware’s late push to secure a 9 - 6 win.
Even with the losses, the JV Lady Gators showed promising offense, tallying 11 hits across the two games and demonstrating grit at the plate with a total of five team walks in the nightcap.
Next up, Ware County JV Softball will travel to Camden County on Monday for their next matchup set to begin at 4:00 PM.
