The Ware County Varsity Lady Gators put on an offensive clinic Tuesday evening, rolling past the Brunswick Lady Pirates by a score of 14-3.

The bats were hot early as Ware County jumped ahead in the first inning. Ashlyn Jacobs got things started with a triple to center, and the lineup kept the pressure on. Kara Coleman ripped a triple down the right-field line, and Cassidy Lee followed with a sharp single to left. By the end of the inning, the Lady Gators had built a lead they would never give back.

Brunswick tried to close the gap in the third, but the Gators quickly responded. Amberley Padgett delivered an RBI single, and Ware County’s offense went right back to work in the fourth inning, exploding for seven runs. Lee once again came through with a clutch triple that plated two runs, and smart baserunning combined with patient at-bats extended the lead to double digits.

In the circle, Mattie Forsyth was steady for Ware County, going the distance with five innings of work. She limited Brunswick to just three unearned runs on three hits, while striking out one and not issuing a single walk.

Lee led the way at the plate with two hits and three RBIs, while Coleman also tallied two hits. Jacobs set the tone with three walks and aggressive baserunning, helping the Lady Gators swipe seven bases as a team. Ware County also flashed the leather with a double play to keep momentum on their side.

Brunswick was led by hits from Hannah Landers, Liz Landers, and Emily Perkins, while Maci Moore drove in one run.

With the victory, the Lady Gators are building momentum heading into their next matchup. Ware County travels to Glynn Academy on Wednesday for another big road test.
