The future of Ware County football was on full display Thursday, August 14, 2025, as both the Ninth Grade and Junior Varsity Gators earned impressive victories over the Camden County Wildcats. The Ninth Grade team traveled to Kingsland and battled to a hard-fought 13-6 win, while the JV squad dominated at home with a commanding 43-0 shutout.
Ninth Grade Gators Grind Out Road Victory
The Ninth Grade Gators battled hard in their season-opening win on the road. The defense as a whole proved to be the difference, holding the Wildcats to just six points and sealing the victory.
JV Gators Dominate at Home
Back in Waycross, the Junior Varsity Gators wasted no time setting the tone for their 2025 season, dismantling Camden County 43-0 in front of an energized home crowd. Ware County’s defense was impenetrable, forcing two safeties and shutting down every Wildcat scoring attempt.
On offense, the Gators spread the ball around in an explosive performance. Moo Moo McKoy scored twice - once rushing and once receiving - while Lavon Lawson, Brandon Young, and Christian McKelvin each hauled in touchdown passes. Quarterback Ryder Gilbert showcased accuracy and composure, tossing four touchdowns on the night. Justin Hampton capped off the scoring with a powerful rushing touchdown.
A Strong Start to the Season
With both squads starting their seasons in the win column, confidence is high across the Gator football program. The Ninth Grade and JV teams will look to carry their momentum forward as they prepare for their next challenges.
The Ware County Athletic Department and Gator Touchdown Club would like to thank all fans who came out or traveled to support the Gators. The energy in the stands was felt on the field, and both teams are excited for the season ahead.
