The Ware County Varsity Gators fell to Appling County on Tuesday, 8–0, with the damage coming early as the home team scored all eight runs in the opening frame.

Appling County’s first-inning surge began with M. Jones sending a three-run homer over the left-field fence. S.B. Baxley followed with an RBI single, L. Bunch delivered a two-run double, C. Stallings added an RBI base hit, and E. Atkins capped the rally with another run-scoring single.

Mattie Forsyth started in the circle for Ware County, giving up six hits and seven runs in two-thirds of an inning. Kayleigh LeMay came on in relief, working 3 1/3 innings while allowing just two hits and one unearned run, striking out two without issuing a walk.

Offensively, Forsyth, Kallie Lairsey, and Ella Musgrove each recorded a hit for the Gators.

For Appling County, Jones led the way with three RBIs, while Stallings collected a team-high two hits from the leadoff spot. Defensively, Appling County played error-free softball, with S.G. Smith handling six chances cleanly.

Ware County will be back in action at home on Thursday when they face Camden County at Gator Field.  JV first pitch is set for 4:00 PM while the Varsity will follow at 6:00 PM.  Tickets will be available online at gofan.co or at the gate and are set at $7.00
