The Ware County Gators kicked off the 2025 football season Friday night with a road trip to Glynn County Stadium in Brunswick, GA, taking on the Brunswick High Pirates in a lively preseason scrimmage.
Fans didn’t have to wait long for fireworks, as the varsity squads traded big plays and touchdowns throughout three exciting quarters. By the end of the varsity period, the scoreboard read 34 - 34, leaving both sides with plenty to feel good about heading into the regular season.
The fourth quarter provided valuable reps for the 9th - grade and JV players from both programs. While the younger squads battled hard, neither side was able to break through, keeping the score deadlocked until the final whistle.
The Gators now will turn its attention to the regular season home opener on Friday, August 15, 2025, at Memorial Stadium in Waycross, GA. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased in advance at gofan.co or at the gate. The game will be streamed on NFHS if you can't make it live. Fans are reminded that Ware County has a clear bag policy in place for all home events.
