The Ware County Lady Gators battled hard on Thursday night, but a pair of big innings from Long County proved too much in a 10–1 final.

Long County’s bats came alive in the second inning, stringing together timely hits to push across six runs. McKenzie Crews’ two-run single opened the floodgates, with Maddi Brannen, Jersi Lester, and Sophia Brewster each adding RBI hits, and Catherine Sikes driving in another with a groundout.

The Lady Tide struck again in the third, plating four more runs thanks to a Skipper RBI single, a two-run double from Sikes, and another run-scoring knock from Brewster.

Ware County starter Kayleigh LeMay faced a relentless Long County lineup in her 2 2/3 innings of work, while Sophia Brewster kept the Gators’ offense in check with a complete-game effort, striking out seven.

The Lady Gators still found ways to create offense. Ashlyn Jacobs and Amberley Padgett each collected two hits, and Kallie Lairsey drove in the team’s lone run with a single in the third.

For Long County, Crews and Brewster finished with two hits apiece, while Sikes led all hitters with three RBIs.

The Lady Gators will look to bounce back in their next matchup as they continue to build momentum this season.
