Honors Society Induction Ceremony Held

Center Elementary recently held a prestigious ceremony to induct 31 fourth and fifth grade students into the National Elementary Honors Society (NEHS).  

The National Elementary Honors Society was established in 2008 by the National Association of Secondary School Principals to recognize elementary students in schools for their outstanding academic achievement and demonstration of personal responsibility in promoting meaningful service to the school and community.  Students are encouraged to develop essential leadership skills and required to volunteer at least 10 hours of community service. The NEHS is a club for 4th and 5th grade students only.  

The program ceremony was opened with a welcome and the Pledge of Allegiance from Madyson H., NEHS President. Mrs. Jenna Corley, NEHS Chapter Adviser, introduced the guest speaker Julianna P.  Juliana is a senior at Ware County High School and has been offered scholarships from many colleges because of her outstanding academic and community achievements. She serves as an inspiration to young students to excel in their personal and school goals.

A highlight of the evening included a beautiful candle lighting ceremony.  The four candles represented Service, Leadership, Responsibility, and Scholarship.  The Center Elementary NEHS Officers Madyson H., President, Jurguen S., Vice President, Da’Marion Z., Treasurer, and Jasmine M., Secretary, spoke on each criteria.  Inductees then received their certificate and took the NEHS Pledge.

Inductees included Cassie Alderman, Payton A., Brady Bennett, Eli B., Topher B., Hannah C., Ziva C., Shaliah D., Madison D., McKenna D., Tucker D., Jamariya G., Jameka G., Christopher G., Jasmine G., Eevy G., Emmelee H., Ryan H., Landon H., Hannah H., Elan J., Kenton M., Kara M., Daniel M., Rory R., Mazani R., Joshua S., Kenleigh T., Jacey T., James W.E., and  Gregory Y..

Principal Tyler Bennett ended the program telling the room full of parents and guests how proud he was of the students, staff and parents for their support and hard work to ensure that the students succeeded in school and life.   He stated, “These children are our future and we are proud to be part of the NEHS to help guide and mold the leaders of tomorrow.”
