The Caboose Coloring & Naming Contest

The Downtown Waycross Development Authority held a Caboose Coloring and Naming Contest for the Ware County Schools (Grades 3-5).  Winners were selected in both the coloring and naming categories. A Winners’ Celebration was held on May 11th on the Caboose Deck at the Train Depot to honor all of the winners.

During this contest, students were not only required to color a picture and name the Caboose but they were educated on the history and functions of a Caboose and the importance of a Caboose to the city of Waycross.

A fifth-grader from Center Elementary in Mrs. Nettles and Ms. Shelton's class brought home the honor of 3rd place in both categories! Alan L. earned a $100 prize.  The Tiger family is very proud of our winner! Tyler A. Bennett is principal at Center Elementary.
