Rise Up to Reading

Ruskin Elementary Jaguars are excited and well on their way to accomplishing a goal of reading 20,000 books.  In an effort to encourage the love of reading, Media Specialist Mrs. Tonya Dixon has challenged every class at Ruskin Elementary to read at least 1,000 books by April 30, 2021. Jaguars are reading anything they can get their hands on! Students even have access to thousands of eBooks through a digital program called MyON (www.myon.com).

As an incentive, the class with the most Accelerated Reader points in grades K-2 and 3-5 will earn a pizza party hosted by the administrators. Students will also vote on their favorite teacher to pie in the face when the 20,000-book goal is achieved.  "Reading is a lifelong learning skill and is critical to school success. I want to do my part by both promoting reading for enjoyment and extending the skills taught in the classroom,” says Mrs. Dixon.

Please contact your child’s classroom teacher or the media center for assistance with MyON login information.

Happy Reading, Jaguars! Donna Solomon is the principal of Ruskin Elementary School.
