Ware County FFA Attends National FFA Convention

Ware County FFA members recently attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.  The weeklong event took place from October 29th to November 2nd. The local chapter had a chance to network with over 60,000 FFA members from all across the USA.

FFA members nationwide converge on the National FFA Convention & Expo to celebrate their accomplishments and find inspiration for their next steps. Motivational keynote speakers, energetic concerts, fulfilling workshops and an expo floor bustling with agricultural education and industry opportunities were available to all that attended.

While there, FFA member, Kenna W. represented the state of Georgia in Extemporaneous Public Speaking Career Development Event.  She was awarded a Bronze medal for her achievement.  The FFA Extemporaneous Public Speaking Career Development Event is designed to develop the ability of FFA members to express themselves on a given subject without having prepared or rehearsed its content in advance.  After delivering the speech, participants are judged on content, organization of material, voice, stage presence, general effect and response to questions by a panel of judges.

Zoe C. also competed at the national level with her agriscience fair project.  She was awarded a gold placing for her hard work.  The agriscience fair event is open to students in grades 6-12 who are agricultural education students.  The purpose of the agriscience fair is to provide students with an opportunity to use the scientific process and reinforce skills learned in agriscience courses.

The FFA members in attendance learn many valuable skills in leadership while attending the convention.  These skills will help them throughout the school year.  They look forward to attending the convention next year.
