Mary Lou Hoover

Ms. Mary Lou Hoover was born in Kissimmee, FL, but has lived in Waycross, GA since the age of 3.  She is a graduate of Ware Co. High School (1976), and an alumni of the Ware Co. HS Golden Gator band. 

 

Ms. Hoover was a charter member of the first class that walked through the doors of Waycross College in the fall of 1976, and majored in music education.  She later transferred to Valdosta State University to complete a Bachelor’s of Music degree in Dec. 1982.  She and her fellow music classmates founded the VSU Chapter of the Tau Beta Sigma Music Sorority.

 

Ms. Hoover taught music in 2 elementary schools in the Lowndes Co., Georgia school system (Parker Mathis School & Pine Grove Elementary), before moving to Asheboro, NC in 1991 and working with schools in the Randolph Co., NC school system.

 

In August of 1997, Ms. Hoover filled the position of Chorus Director at Waycross Middle School, and has remained in this position since then. 

 

Ms. Hoover attends Winona Park Methodist Church, where she is a member of the choir, and a member of the Waycross Area Community Chorus.  She is the mother of Jacob Hoover, WCHS senior, and daughter of Mr. & Mrs. J.C. Ballentine of Waycross.  Her hobbies are going to garage sales and animal rescue/rights.   She has two rescue “furbabies” named Luke and Sadie.
