Honors’ Assignment Policy

Students will be assigned various assignments throughout the school year in order to refine skills and develop their understanding of content.  It is important that students understand and clarify (if necessary) the date and time each assignment is due.

All assignments are expected to meet the requirements given by the teacher.  They must be neat, orderly, and complete.

Homework and classwork is expected on or before the date it is due.  NO late homework or classwork will be accepted.

Other assignments, such as current events or projects, will be accepted late, but will receive point deductions. Deductions for late work are as follows:

v     1 school day – 10 points

v     2 school days – 20 points

v     3 school days – 30 points

v     4 school days – 40 points

v     5 school days – 50 points

Such assignments will not be accepted six or more days after the due date.

If a student has an excused absence, it is the student’s responsibility to arrange with the teacher to make up missed assignments and determine an appropriate due date for the make up work.

Honors’ Points Policy

Students that have completed all assignments in their honors class will receive five additional points.  For honors reading, students must complete all assignments and reach their AR goal in order to receive the additional points.  The five points will be then be added to the student’s class grade average at the end of each 9 week grading period in which the student meets the requirement.
