Since third grade students are
required to pass the reading section of the CRCT in the spring, we
work hard and don't have time to waste. We learn to identify
the meaning of common idioms and figurative phrases. We learn
the difference between explicit and implicit facts. We use
information from graphic organizers to help us with everything
from reading and math to writing stories.
In math, our third grade
students are learning multiplication and division. They apply
the identity, commutative, and associative properties of
multiplication and verify the results. They also understand
and measure the area of simple geometric figures.
