Information
You Should Know:
-
Classes
begin promptly at 7:40 a.m. Please make every effort to ensure that your
child is on time for school each day.
-
To
assist us with a smooth dismissal, if you are picking your child up from
school, please be in front of the school at 2:20. Please wait in your car
and your child will come to you. There will be teachers in the front of the
school to assist getting the children to their cars. Please do not drive to
the back of the school where the buses are.
Important
Information for Car Riders

If your child will be a car
rider this year please note the following guidelines that will assist us in
keeping our students safe.
-
All car
riders, both in the morning and afternoon, MUST be dropped off in
front of the school. Under no circumstances will a student be allowed to be
picked up or dropped off in the back of the school where the buses are.
-
Please
do not drop your child off before 7:10 am. There will be no supervision for
students before that time.
-
When you
are dropping your child off, please pull all the way to the end of
the covered sidewalk. This will allow several cars to drop students off at
the same time. Also, do not drop students off in the left hand pull-through
lane. This creates a dangerous situation.
-
When you
are picking your child up, please pull to the end of the covered sidewalk.
This will allow several cars to pick up students at the same time. As cars
in front of you leave, please pull forward to fill in the spaces. Students
cannot be picked up from the left hand pull-through lane. You will be
asked to pull around and park if you attempt to pick up a student in that
lane.
-
Students
are not allowed to cross the traffic lanes to go to the parking lot.
If you drop off or pick up your child in the parking lot, you will have to
walk your child across both lanes of traffic onto the sidewalk.
-
If you
need to go into the school (even for “just a minute”) during the morning
drop off or afternoon pick up times, you must park your car in the
parking lot. You will not be able to park in the pick up/drop off lanes as
this blocks other traffic. There will be teachers available in the mornings
and afternoons to assist students. We hope that these guidelines will ensure
the safety of all of our students.

An order must be at least $5 to qualify, and only one

Memorial Drive
Elementary
"A Haven for Excellence"
Memorial Drive Elementary was built in 1959. It is located in a small, rural
town in the southeastern corner of the state. It is with in the city limits and
the majority of the three hundred, eighty-nine students are bussed into Memorial
Drive.
Memorial Drive is a Title I school due to the composition of the school. The
School Improvement process has been active since 1996. Examining the data
through this process each year has been the basis for developing a plan that
keeps us focused on our goals.
All of our teachers have completed Learning Focused Schools
training. 43% of our teachers earned their masters degree, 20% of
our teachers earned their specialist degree, 15% of our teachers
have or are working on their doctoral degree. We have 1 teacher who
has achieved National Board Certification.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to
challenge students to perform at their optimum levels of achievement in an
orderly, safe, and caring atmosphere as reflected in our motto: MEMORIAL DRIVE
SCHOOL: A HAVEN FOR EXCELLENCE.

learn, achieve, and succeed.
2. A safe and orderly
environment promotes learning.

to making immeasurable endeavors to challenge students to perform at their
optimum level of achievement.
4. Education is the most
vital force in operation today, and we are responsible for helping students
develop mentally, socially, physically, and vocationally.
5. A broad-based
educational program must include students, parents, teachers, administrators,
and the community.
6. In education, change
is constant, growth is necessary, and needs are diverse.
7. We must accept the
challenge of preparing students for the future by providing the life skills
essential to success in the 21st century.
