Students in Mrs. Susie Tison's 4th grade CLASS program at Center Elementary School sharpened their letter writing and descriptive writing skills while making new friends located 953 miles away by participating in a penpal exchange program throughout the 2011-2012 school year. Today, the students met their New York penpals face-to-face using Skype in the classroom. The students introduced themselves to one another, shared their Monster Adjective collaborative projects, and learned more about what their comrades would be up to later this summer. Dr. Sonya Bennett, principal at Center Elementary, dropped in to greet Ms. Ellie Speros' 4th graders, who attend F.E. Bellows Elementary School in Mamaroneck, NY. The students plan to exchange one more snail mail letter, which will contain a parent e-mail address if available, so the students can continue to write to each other. Special thanks to Bellows media specialist Mr. Bill McKeon for making the connection possible.
