Ruskin Students Participate in Internet2 Writing Project with Students in Pennsylvania

Ruskin Elementary 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade WINGS students recently participated in a collaborative learning project with The Armenian Sister’s Academy in Radnor, Pennsylvania. The focus of this collaboration was to further develop writing and technology skills. In an initial videoconference, students introduced themselves and discussed plans for this project. Following their plans, students in both classes created snowmen using their choice of everyday classroom materials or by using a computer graphic design program. Then, students in both classes exchanged only the instructions for recreating their snowman design. In the final videoconference, students shared the snowmen they recreated following another student’s instructions. Ruskin students agreed that this experience helped them realize the importance of writing clearly and precisely and will be helpful as they complete science projects on various topics. In this photo are (L-R) Libby Ferrari, Bryce Young, Lexi Crawford, Taylor Tuten, Amelia Hiott, Adriana Noya, and Emily Thrift looking on as a student from ASA presents the snowman he recreated and asks if anyone can recognize whose design he followed. Kathy Stevens is the principal at Ruskin Elementary School.
