effective organization establishes policies and regulations to direct its
activities. Such policies and regulations
are important for establishing common understanding of purposes as well as to
give security to the members of the organization in that they know what is
expected of them. As
a public body administering a public institution, it is even more imperative
that a Board of Education defines in writing the rules that shall govern its
operation. So that the wishes of the
Board and the community can be fulfilled most adequately, the staff must have
the direction of written policies and regulations. Policies
and regulations are important; yet they can change with the times and the
situation. Therefore, an attitude
of “continuous study and evaluation”
should be part and parcel of the development of any written policies and
regulations. We hope that this online manual will serve a very useful purpose. These policies and regulations will be updated on a regular basis. Board Members Mr. Franklin Pinckney,
