Windows Live - Ware County Schools

A message from technology:

The mail server for Ware Schools has been in place for the past twelve years.  We have been planning to move to a different mail server over the summer of 2011.  Recently, there were enough problems that we had to make the move Friday, May 13.  This page is designed to help you with the transition.

Just for clarification, your email address DID NOT change.
Your email account is still  username@ware.k12.ga.us

Please refer to this page as we will be updating information through the next months.

Here are the answers to some of the most frequently asked questions:

  1. What about my messages in Outlook Express/Outlook? Will I lose them?
The answer is "no".  Messages on your computer will remain on your computer.  They will not disappear.

  2. If you didn't have an Outlook Express/Outlook account and accessed messages from the web:
If you only used web mail, then go to www.ware.k12.ga.us, click on Staff Tools, and choose "Login to OLD Email server" . This link will ONLY work INSIDE our network- not at home.  This will be available until school starts in August.  However, the old server is dying and it might not last thru the summer.

  3. Well, can I set up my Windows Live in Outlook Express/Outlook?
Then answer is "it is preferable that you don't."
Why?  Windows Live allows users to create messages, create folders, create contact groups, as does Outlook Express and Outlook.  Additionally, there are public groups, a calendar that can be made public, and 10 Gb of data storage available to users.  If using Outlook Express/Outlook, you could be at risk of losing your email due to corruption or hard drive failure. And, Windows Live is available from any Internet connected computer, any time, any where.

  4. Junk email - I'm seeing more of it. What to do?
It is now being classified by Microsoft, not our SPAM filter.  Check your Junk E-Mail folder daily to make sure something you need was not classified as Junk Email.  If you find something in Junk Email, that shouldn't be, right click on the message, go to Junk Email, Add user to safe sender list or one of the other safe options.  Conversely, if you find something in your Inbox that is junk, right click on it, go to Junk E-Mail, and block sender.
