Third graders in Mrs. Guy's and Mrs. Hayman's reading classes are learning how to do more than just read a text. Clad in white surgical gloves and white facemasks, students spent the morning learning how to dig right into a text by examining and dissecting it.
As the text "surgeries" were taking place, the young surgeons were heard commenting to their patients (the texts on their papers), "I've got to find the heading before you bleed out," and "I'm ready for another patient."
After all surgeries were complete, students reflected on their surgical procedures by conversing with their lead doctors - or teachers, as they are commonly known.
