Third graders at Ruskin Elementary are having a "blast" working on essential reading skills, such as sequencing and cause and effect. As an introductory activity for the skill of sequencing, students conducted a Bubble Volcano experiment. To reinforce the idea of cause and effect, students participated in a "magic milk" activity in which they demonstrated how dishwashing liquid caused a colorful reaction in a bowl of milk. Following the activities, students used the skills they learned to write about the activities. Needless to say, these super fun hands-on activities have caused students to be "over the top" about learning in Mrs. Hayman's and Mrs. Guy's reading classes!
