How does it feel to rank in the top 1% in the entire nation for showing off your math skills? You might ask a member of one of Ruskin Elementary's SumDog teams to find out.
For those who don’t know, SumDog is an online educational game that allows students to practice math skills while playing fun games against friends, classmates, or students from around the world. Students at Ruskin recently competed in the SumDog National Math Contest and did an outstanding job representing their school and their state.
In this competition, Ruskin’s teams competed against 10,775 teams that entered the competition from all over the United States. Three of Ruskin’s teams finished among the top 30 positions: 4th grade Math All Stars ranked 21st place, 3rd grade Math Minds ranked 27th place, and 3rd grade Math Magicians ranked 29th place when the competition came to a close.
There were also 3 teams that finished among the top 100 positions: 4th grade Math Magicians ranked 61st place, 1st grade Math All Stars ranked 65th place, and 3rd grade Math All Stars ranked 86th place. These grand accomplishments would not have been possible without the support and encouragement of Ruskin’s teachers and Principal Donna Solomon.
