Memorial Drive Elementary holds NEHS Induction Ceremony

On Thursday evening, October 20, 2016, Memorial Drive Elementary School inducted 20 fourth and fifth grade students into the National Elementary Honor Society. These students joined 19 returning members. The evening’s keynote speaker was Dr. Yolanda Borders of Mayo Health Clinic Waycross. She encouraged the students by taking them on the journey of her past, where she learned through many trials that leadership and service are very important in life. Mrs. Rene’ Crews, teacher at Memorial Drive and NEHS Advisor, led students in reciting the society’s pledge followed by their acceptance of a certificate from MDES Principal, Dr. Wendy Good. Parents also joined in the ceremony by awarding students a pin in the shape of a flame. The evening closed with a reception of punch and cookies. Memorial Drive Elementary’s National Elementary Honor Society is now up and running to complete at least four service projects within this school year.

Congratulations to all new inductees and returning members!
