Ruskin Elementary Kindergarten Students Sharpen STEM Skills

Ruskin Elementary kindergarten students have been hard at work sharpening their STEM skills. Students combined math and writing skills in a special learning activity. Each student was given a set of different shapes, including squares, triangles, diamonds, hexagons and trapezoids.  Students imagined what they might design with that particular set of shapes and then created the design. Students then recorded how many of each shape were utilized in the design in their STEM journal. The students repeated this process several times with different sets of shapes. Upon completion of the design portion of the activity, the students then wrote a sentence about working with shapes. The future engineers pictured are Bri A. and Erica C. and they are in Mrs. Heather Boggs and Mrs. Yvonne Lott’s class.
